Responsibilities

The Pottawatomie County Planning and Zoning Office is responsible for administering the County's Unified Development Regulations (Zoning Regulations).

The office is additionally responsible for county land use planning and implementing the County Land Use Plan. This includes reviewing and issuing building and sign permits, floodplain management, 911 addressing and coordinating new subdivisions plat reviews.

Ongoing Projects
Building Codes 
Building codes are coming to the Blue Township Sewer District on January 1, 2020. As part of the codes process, contractors and their sub-contractors will be required to obtain a Pottawatomie County License. loodplain Mapping Updates

The Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) for the Wamego, Belvue, and St Marys areas are being updated to provide more accurate information. For more information please see the above link.

Unified Development Regulation Amendments
The County is reviewing our development regulations. The UDR is the County's zoning and subdivision document, and has a significant impact on land use in Pott County.
