Planning & Zoning Office

Responsibilities

The Pottawatomie County Planning and Zoning Office is responsible for administering the County’s Unified Development Regulations (UDR) which cover subdivision and zoning regulations.

The office is additionally responsible for land use planning in the County and implementing the County’s Comprehensive Plan and any additional adopted County Plans.

Other responsibilities of the office include building and sign permits, floodplain management, addressing, and subdivision plat reviews.

Ongoing Projects


Building Codes 
Building codes went into effect in the Blue Township Sewer District on January 1, 2020. As part of the codes process, contractors and their sub-contractors will be required to obtain a Pottawatomie County License. Floodplain Mapping Updates

The Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) for the Wamego, Belvue, and St Marys areas are being updated to provide more accurate information. For more information please see the above link.

Unified Development Regulation Amendments
The County is reviewing our development regulations. The UDR is the County’s zoning and subdivision document, and has a significant impact on land use in Pott County.
