The main function of this department is to provide safe roads and bridges for the
traveling public. The Road & Bridge department is responsible for over 1,156
miles of roads and 1360 bridges and drainage structures.

County Road Improvement |

Individuals requesting road improvements, for dedicated easements recorded in the
county road records where there are no visible road improvements
maintained by the county within the easements, shall be paid by the
requesting landowner. The improvements shall be constructed to minimum
roadway standards established by the Public Works Department.
Individuals requesting road improvements, for dedicated easements recorded in the
county road records where there is an existing grass or dirt road
currently maintained by the county within the easement, shall pay 50% of
the cost of the improvements. The improvements shall be constructed to
minimum roadway standards established by the Public Works Department.

Entrance Applications |

Required for all new entrances onto county roads.
Available from the Public Works office and requires an application fee of $50 and a $250 deposit.
When the entrance is installed according to county specification the deposit will be returned.

Utility Agreements |

Required for location within county right-of-ways.
These include both public and private utilities.
Agreement forms may be obtained from the Public Works Office.

Dust Control |

Available on gravel roads for a fee.
Each year, applications are taken from the beginning of March through the first week in April.
