Current Recommendations for Immunizations
 
These are the Vaccinations Your Baby Needs
At birth Hepatitis B 
2 months Hepatitis B + DTaP + PCV + HiB + Polio + Rotavirus
4 months Hepatitis B + DTaP + PCV + HiB + Polio + Rotavirus
6 months Hepatitis B1+ DTaP + PCV + HiB+ Polio + Influenza + Rotavirus
12 months or older MMR + DTaP + PCV + HiB + Varicella + Influenza + Hep A + Polio

All babies should receive a total of at least 3 doses of Hep B vaccine. Babies may receive up to 4 doses when given Hep B vaccine at birth followed by combination vaccines containing Hep B.

Depending on the brand of vaccine, your child may only need 2 Rotavirus vaccines.

Check with your doctor or nurse to make sure your baby is receiving all vaccinations on schedule. Many times vaccines are combined to reduce the number of injections. Be sure you ask for a record card with the dates of your baby’s vaccines; take this card with you to every visit.

Here is a List of the Diseases your Baby will be Protected Against
Chickenpox A skin rash of blister like lesions, people develop a fever.
Hep A Serious liver disease spread when a person ingests fecal matter from contact with objects, food or water.
Hep B Hepatitis B virus, a serious liver disease that can lead to liver cancer.
DTaP Diphtheria, Tetanus (lock jaw), and Pertussis (whooping cough)
HiB Haemophilus influenza type B, a serious brain, throat and blood infection caused by bacteria.
MMR Measles, Mumps and Rubella, diseases with potentially serious complications caused by viruses.
Polio Polio virus, a serious paralyzing disease.
PCV

Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine protects against serious blood, lung and brain infections caused by Streptococcus Pneumonia bacteria

Rotavirus A virus causing severe diarrhea often with vomiting and fever.
These are the Vaccinations your Kindergartner Needs
At 4-6 Years 3 Hepatitis B*
5 DTaP*
4 PCV
3-4 HiB
4 Polio*
2 MMR*
2 Varicella*
2-3 Rotavirus
2 Hepatitis A

* Indicates the required vaccinations to enter the Kansas school systems
These are the Vaccinations your Adolescent Needs
At 11-12 Years Tdap booster (prevents tetanus & whooping cough)
Meningococcal Vaccine 2 doses (1st dose at age 11-12 & Booster between 16-18 years)
MMR #2 (if not done previously)
Varicella (if not done previously)
Hepatitis A series (if not done previously)
Hepatitis B series (if not done previously)
3 doses HPV (HPV is viral infection that can cause cervical cancer)

11-12 years is the recommended age for these booster vaccinations.
13-18 years of age is considered the catch up age range.
These are the Vaccinations Adults Need
Adults Td booster every 10 years (usually the last one was in high school)
or Tdap (if not previously vaccinated)
Hepatitis B series (if not done previously)
Influenza vaccination yearly
Varicella vaccination (if you have never had chicken pox disease)
MMR #2 (if not previously vaccinated)
Pneumonia Vaccine (if over 65 or recommended by physician)
Zoster Vaccine (for Shingles ages 60 years and older)
